The Anantnag encounter has taken lives of three army personnels on Wednesday and another one on Friday in the fresh attacks in Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag.

Colonel Singh was one of three army officials killed in a battle with terrorists in Kashmir’s Anantnag on Wednesday. The two appeared clueless of the tragedy that had befallen the family as they stood side by side, mimicking the salute. Locals supported the kids as a large crowd gathered to pay their final respects to the hero.

Six-year-old Colonel Manpreet Singh’s kid saluted as his father’s body arrived at his family’s house in Mullanpur in the Punjab’s Mohali.

Visuals from the scene showed that Col. Manpreet Singh’s wife, sister, mother, and other family members were inconsolable.

Colonel Manpreet Singh, 41, was commanding officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles (19 RR) and a recipient of the prestigious Sena Medal (Gallantry).

Three personnel, including the colonel, a major, and a deputy superintendent of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, were killed in the gunfight with terrorists in the higher reaches of the Kokorenag area in the valley on Wednesday.

A large number of people gathered at Colonel’s village to pay him tribute. Meanwhile, Former Army chief General (retd) VP Malik also paid respect to the Colonel Singh.

According to the sources, one more security personnel has also lost life due to injuries on Friday.
