Amul requests return of ice cream tub with Centipede, ensures thorough investigation

Dairy giant Amul has requested a woman customer in Noida to return an ice cream tub after she reported finding a centipede inside, sparking concerns about food safety. The incident came to light when the customer, identified as Deepa Devi, shared a picture on social media showing the insect in the Amul ice cream tub she had ordered through an instant delivery app.

What GCMMF said? 

In response to the incident, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to the customer. "We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to her because of this incident," Amul stated in a released statement.

Requested ice cream tub for investigation 

Amul has reached out to Devi and requested the ice cream tub for investigation to ascertain the details of the incident, emphasizing the importance of pack and supply chain integrity.

"Unless the complaint pack is retrieved from the customer, it would be difficult for us to investigate the matter and hence comment specifically on the issue," Amul clarified.

Amul invited Devi to visit its plants

The company reassured customers of the superior quality of its ice cream, highlighting stringent quality checks at automated plants. Amul also invited Devi to visit one of its plants to observe the manufacturing process firsthand.
