A controversial statement by BJP leader and animal activist Maneka Gandhi has garnered attention on social media, claiming that Amul works as a mediator for the slaughtering of cows. During one of her interviews with a media person, Gandhi alleged that Amul was the first company to open a slaughterhouse for cows in Goa as they were not permitted to do so in Gujarat. She also alleged that everyday several cows are transported to Maharashtra, Amul is a mediator for generating more flesh.

However, refuting the claims, Amul has clarified that it is a fake message being forwarded on WhatsApp and Social Media platforms regarding Amul setting up a slaughterhouse in Goa. The company has called all the claims baseless and said that the video is incorrect and false.

The company assured that they are belittling the contributions of millions of women dairy farmers who have provided nourishment for generations of Indians and food security for our nation for the last 77 years. Amul reiterated that India is the world's largest milk producer in the world and Atmanirbhar in the dairy industry and has provided respect, employment and steady income to our women dairy farmers.

In the advertisement, Amul further assured that 36 lakh farmers of Gujarat who own the brand Amul, take care of their cattle as members of their family. They are provided with love, attention and veterinary care at every stage of their life. Amul emphasized that videos have been created just to spread misinformation.
