A horrifying case of dowry-related violence has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Amroha, where a woman named Meena was brutally killed by her husband, Sundar, for failing to meet his demands for a TVS Apache motorcycle and Rs 3 lakh in cash. The incident has shocked residents of Baikheda village, where Sundar had been living with Meena since their marriage two years ago.

According to reports, Meena had been subjected to constant pressure and harassment over the unfulfilled dowry demands. Despite her struggles, she confided in her father about the relentless torment she faced from her husband. In an attempt to escape the abuse, Meena had been staying at her father’s house in Soharka village since Rakshabandhan, a move that now appears to have been a desperate cry for help.

Sundar's deceptive behavior

Despite the ongoing harassment, Sundar continued to visit Meena at her father’s house regularly, often eating meals with her family and maintaining a façade of normalcy. His daily visits did little to indicate the simmering violence that would eventually lead to Meena’s tragic demise.

Violent attack and murder

On Sunday night, Sundar arrived at Soharka to take Meena back to their home. However, once they reached his residence, he violently confronted her again over the dowry issue. In a brutal rage, Sundar attacked Meena with sticks and, when his physical assault failed to coerce her into submission, he strangled her to death. After committing the murder, Sundar fled the scene.

Soon after the incident, it was the local villagers who first reported the incident to the police. Meena’s family, devastated by the news, rushed to the police station to demand swift action. Her father, Vijay Khadak Banshi, has filed a formal complaint, accusing Sundar and six other family members, including his mother and sister, of being complicit in the crime.

Meanwhile, according to the official statement of Amroha Police the body of the victim has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is on.
