The video reveals both leaders exchanging cheerful greetings and shaking hands, a rare sight given their political differences.

Unplanned Meeting on Parliament Stairs

The video, shot today, coincides with President Draupadi Murmu's scheduled address in Parliament. As Union Minister Amit Shah ascended the Parliament stairs, he encountered Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav. Noticing Shah from a few steps ahead, Yadav called out to him. Shah paused, and the two leaders engaged in a friendly handshake before proceeding inside the Parliament building together.

In another surprising moment on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi shook hands in the Lok Sabha. This rare gesture occurred just before they escorted Om Birla to the Speaker's Chair after his election. Following pro-tem Speaker B Mahtab's announcement of Birla's election, PM Modi approached the front benches where Birla was seated. Rahul Gandhi soon joined them, extending a handshake to Modi, which the Prime Minister reciprocated.

Oath-Taking Ceremony Marks the Beginning of the 18th Lok Sabha

Earlier on Monday, the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers taking their oaths. Key figures such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among those who took their oaths as Members of Parliament. Other notable ministers, including G. Kishan Reddy, Chirag Paswan, Kiren Rijiju, Nitin Gadkari, and Mansukh Mandaviya also took their oaths. The ceremony included oaths from Bhupender Yadav, Giriraj Singh, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, JD(U) MP Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, BJP MP Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, marking the official commencement of their duties in the 18th Lok Sabha.
