Amit Shah slammed INDIA alliance over Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments on “Sanatan Dharma” on Sunady. The Union Minister stepped up its attack on the DMK leader while addressing the rally in Rajasthan, saying, “For two days, you (INDIA  alliance) have been insulting the culture and ‘Sanatan Dharma’ of this country. The two main parties of the INDIA coalition, Congress and DMK — one, the son of a former finance minister and the other, the son of a chief ministe are saying that ‘Sanatan Dharma’ should be abolished. To do appeasement and vote bank politics, these people have insulted Sanatan Dharma.”

Allegations of Vote Bank Politics

Amit Shah was addressing people at the launch of the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra in election-bound Rajasthan at Dungarpur. In the upcoming state elections, the BJP is working extremely hard to take down the ruling Congress and retake power. The Home Minister alleged that the remarks by Udhayanidhi Stalin are part of INDIA bloc’s “vote bank politics” and “appeasement” tactic.

The comments by the senior leader of the BJP came a day after Udhayanidhi, the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs in the Tamil Nadu government and son of Chief Minister M K Stalin, said at an event on Saturday in Tamil, “Few things cannot be opposed, they should be abolished. We can’t oppose dengue, mosquitoes, malaria or corona, we have to eradicate them. In the same way, we have to eradicate Sanatana (Sanatan Dharma) rather than opposing it.”
As the comments went vial, BJP leaders coined them as a call for genocide and questioned whether the remarks of the DMK leader were shared by all INDIA citizens.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Response

Earlier, reacting to the criticism, Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “I never called for the genocide of people who are following Sanatana Dharma. Uprooting Sanatana Dharma means upholding humanity and human equality. I stand firmly by every word I have spoken. I spoke on behalf of the oppressed and marginalized, who suffer due to the Sanatana Dharma.”
