A distressing incident has emerged from Maharashtra, where a foreign woman was discovered chained to a tree in a forest near Sonurli village in Sawantwadi tehsil on Saturday. The woman was found early in the morning by a shepherd, who alerted local villagers. The police were promptly notified and arrived at the scene.

Officials reported that the woman appeared to be in poor condition, having likely gone without food or water for several days. The police quickly transported her to Sawantwadi Cottage Hospital, and she was later moved to Oros Rural Hospital for further treatment.

The incident was brought to light when a shepherd passing by heard the woman's screams. She has been identified as Lalita Kayi Kumar S, originally from the United States and currently residing in Tamil Nadu.

Due to her prolonged ordeal of being chained and exposed to harsh weather conditions, she was in a severe state of distress and unable to communicate. Initial investigations suggest that her husband, who is also from Tamil Nadu, may be involved. Police have dispatched teams to locate him as the investigation continues.

As the woman is a foreign national, police have not released extensive details about her. They have stated that her statement will be recorded once she has recovered and is discharged from the hospital.
