On the Centre’s Har Ghar Tiranga website, over 88 million people from across India have shared their selfies with the Tricolour (national flag) under its three-day (August 13 – August 15) campaign announced by Prime Minister.

Over 88 million people shared selfies with Tricolour on Har Ghar Tiranga website

On the Har Ghar Tiranga website, the home page shows an option to upload a selfie with the flag and mentions that 8,81,21,591 (88 million) selfies with the tricolour were uploaded till noon (12 pm) today (on Tuesday). Basically, the website asks the public to hoist a flag at their house from August 13 to 15 — the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to celebrate the 77th Independence Day.

For those who are unaware, there are two options on the home page where the public can upload a selfie with a flag and digital Tiranga. Taking the zeal high, the user can also witness the photos of Union ministers, actors and sportspersons with the Tricolour that included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former cricketer Parthiv Patel, actor Anupam Kher and singer Kailash Kher and many more prominent personalities.

On the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ celebrating 75 years of India’s independence, PM Modi launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign on July 22, 2022. On Sunday, the Prime Minister again urged people through a social media post to change the display picture (DP) on their social media accounts to the Tricolour in the spirit of this campaign through his tweet.

Interestingly, PM Modi himself changed the DP of his social media accounts to the national flag. Several events were planned for the entire week, in which union ministers participated in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ bike rally at the Pragati Maidan area in Delhi. The rally, which is the second edition of the campaign, was flagged off by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and also proceeded on Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, India Gate, along with the Pragati Maidan tunnel.

Meanwhile, the 77th Independence Day was celebrated across the country with the PM hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort on Tuesday morning in the presence of various dignitaries, Ministers and school children among others. He then delivered an iconic speech at the Red Fort.
