Shashi Tharoor has recently been rumored to be the cause of division in the congress. But Rahul Gandhi, through a social media post, has shot down all the matters by confirming that the state unit of Kerala has acted unitedly toward its objectives.

Gandhi made the statement after a key meeting at 'Indira Bhavan' with top Kerala Congress leaders, including Tharoor, MLA Ramesh Chennithala, and MP K Suresh, where party strategies for the upcoming assembly elections were discussed.

Where did the problem arise?

The alleged tensions flared after the Thiruvananthapuram MP made comments praising the Modi government's trade deal with the United States and the startup explosion in Kerala. Since the LDF is the main opponent of Congress in Kerala, these comments were not well received by party leaders.

Although Tharoor subsequently made it clear that he was merely underlining developments in the startup scenario in Kerala and was not commenting for or against the CPM regime, his utterances drew back ire. The State unit of Congress labeled him as anti-party and further aggravated the anger by mentioning him sitting next to MOS, Piyush Goyal, in a program. Even after many apologies issued by Tharoor about still being deeply devoted to the party, the rumors kept flying.

The position of Kerala Congress on the matter

The Kerala Congress organization charged Tharoor with disappointing thousands of party workers before local body polls. In reaction, the party leadership held a key meeting on Friday to discuss internal issues. Rahul Gandhi instructed leaders to be careful with their political communication and ensure consistency with the party's position.
