Air India emergency over Trichy: In a tense situation, an Air India flight declared a mid-air emergency over Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu, on Friday evening following a hydraulic system failure. The aircraft, which was en route, began hovering over Trichy before attempting to land. It was safely landed at the Trichy airport with all 140 passengers on board being safe and sound.

Meanwhile, the captain of the flight acted with firm determination and made the flight to land at the Trichy Airport. The informaation of the safe landing of The Air India Express Flight IX 613, was given by Ministry of Civil Aviation. It read, "The Air India Express Flight IX 613 from Tiruchirapalli to Sharjah has landed safely at Tiruchirapalli airport. DGCA was monitoring the situation. The landing gear was opening. The flight has landed normally. The airport was put on alert mode."

Hydraulic failure triggers emergency

According to the airport director, the hydraulic failure prompted the pilot to declare an emergency. The technical issue led to the plane being held in the airspace around Trichy as airport authorities prepared for its arrival.

In response to the emergency, over 20 ambulances and fire tenders have been strategically positioned at the airport. Airport Director Gopalakrishnan emphasized these precautions to mitigate the risk of a major incident during the landing.
