The AIADMK has announced that the alliance with the BJP has ended as of now and the decision in this regard will be taken during the election.

Attacking BJP state chief K Annamalai for his criticism of Dravidian icon C N Annadurai, senior AIADMK leader D Jayakumar said his party’s supporters would not put up with any criticism against the late chief minister. Although Annamalai had made disparaging remarks about AIADMK leaders, including the late J Jayalalithaa, he claimed the party had sought to restrain the BJP leader.

D Jayakumar stated, “We can’t accept constant criticism of our leaders”, in a statement to ANI. “The BJP president of Tamil Nadu, Annamalai, has already criticized our leader, Jayalalithaa. We then passed a resolution condemning Annamalai. He ought to have halted this. He is criticizing the general secretary, Periyar, and Anna. This is unacceptable to the cadre. We must work on the field tomorrow. We had no choice but to make this announcement. We won’t be affected by this choice in any way. We are sure that we will win”.

Furthermore, he said,”Annamalai doesn’t desire an alliance with AIADMK, although BJP workers want it. Why should we tolerate all this criticism of our leaders? Why should we carry you? The BJP can’t set foot here. Your vote bank is known. You are known because of us”.

The head of the state’s BJP is renowned for spending equal amounts of time teasing the ruling DMK and AIADMK, his party’s sole ally in the state. In the AIADMK camp, there are questions about whether the former IPS officer is serving as the spokesperson for the party’s central leadership, which is eager to carve out a niche in the state before the Lok Shabha elections.

Narayanan Thirupathy, vice-president, TN BJP said, “AIADMK leader D Jayakumar is right, there is no alliance right now. Alliance is always a two way-lane”.
