Days before the Lok Sabha Elections for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat are held on May 25, terrorists fatally shot a local politician and injured a tourist couple in two separate incidents late on Saturday. Terrorists fired upon on open tourist camp and injured civilians on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district. Terrorists had opened fire on BJP leader and former Sarpanch Ejaz Ahmed in Heerpora area of Shopian. However, the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.

It is being told that the terrorists had targeted a tourist camp in Pahalgam. Here, a couple from Jaipur, Farha and Tabrez, have been shot. Both were admitted to the hospital for treatment. According to the information, both the husband and wife were admitted to the hospital in critical condition, where they are undergoing treatment.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the security forces team reached the area. The area has been cordoned off after the firing. Search operation is going on. For example, BJP leader Ajaz Ahmed was badly injured in the firing that took place in Heerpora area of Shopian. He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.
Commenting on the incident of terror attack, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti said in an ex-post, “We condemn the attack today in Pahalgam in which two tourists were injured and the subsequent attack on a sarpanch in Heerpora, Shopian. The timing of these attacks is a matter of concern, where elections were delayed without any reason, especially because the Indian government has been continuously claiming normalcy here.
Jammu Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah also condemned the terrorist attacks in Anantnag and Shopian. He has said that such acts of cruelty remain a serious obstacle in achieving peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
