Situation in Himachal worsen after cloudburst in Shimla, Mandi; Three dead, several missing

Update: According to the recent updates, three individuals have lost their lives following the cloudburst in Himachal's Shimla and Mandi and several people are still missing. The state government has issued the helpline numbers and meanwhile, a team has been formed at the district level to help the public 24X7 in times of disaster, which will help you in any emergency. Call the given number for any emergency.


At least 19 people are currently missing following a severe cloudburst in the Samej Khad area of Rampur in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. According to the sources, the sudden and intense rainfall has caused significant disruption, prompting immediate action from local authorities.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been deployed to the affected region, where they are conducting search and rescue operations. The team's efforts are focused on locating the missing individuals and providing any necessary aid to those affected by the natural disaster. 

Apart from Shimla, an incident of cloudburst has also been reported in Thaltukhod of the Padhar subdivision of Mandi. According to the official statement, the body of one person has been recovered and 9 people have been reported missing. Several houses were also damaged. Meanwhile, the district administration and NDRF team left for the spot for rescue operations.

The situation remains critical as rescuers work tirelessly under challenging conditions to ensure the safety and recovery of those impacted.

Meanwhile, the administration has urged people to avoid visiting areas near Pandoh Dam/Lorgi Dam. Reportedly, the water flow of River Vyaas will be diverted to Pandoh Dam.

In addition to this, an ‘Orange’ alert has been issued by IMD for several districts of Himachal Pradesh.
