Late night, MCD said in its statement that 90 percent of the fire has been extinguished and about 40-50 small separate flames are left in an area of 3 thousand square meters. About 600 metric tons of inert and C&D waste was used to extinguish the fire. 16 excavators, 2 bulldozers and 6 fire engines was taken to control the fire. Also, with the help of sprinklers, it is being ensured that ash and dust particles do not blow in the surrounding area.Possible reason of fire According to officials, hot and dry weather is the possible cause of the fire. Apart from this, in the year 2022, 3 incidents of fire were reported at Ghazipur landfill site. It took more than 50 hours to extinguish the fire that broke out on March 28.
