There are authentic speculations that the Afghanistan embassy will shut down its operations in India. Amid this, India has now examined the matter, said the sources on Friday. The Afghan Embassy in New Delhi has purportedly issued a message on this issue, the contents of which are being examined by New Delhi.Afghanistan embassy to be shut down in New DelhiNotably, this development comes amid Ambassador Farid Mamundzay being out of India for many months. It is learnt that he is currently in London. The previous Ashraf Ghani government appointed him.Despite the Taliban taking over Afghanistan in August 2021, Mamundzays role as the Afghan envoy continued.The sources said, “This is in the context of a steady departure of diplomats to third countries reportedly after receiving asylum, as well as reports of infighting amongst the embassy personnel.”According to the news agency PTI, the Afghan Embassy has purportedly communicated to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) its decision to shut down its operations in the next couple of days.Meanwhile, India has been continuously insisting that Afghan soil must not be used for any terrorist activities against any country. However, it has not given recognition to Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
