Heart Attack: A tragic incident took place on Saturday evening during a Ramlila performance in Delhi's Shahdara, where a man playing the role of Lord Ram collapsed and died on stage. The man, identified as 45-year-old Sushil Kaushik, was a property dealer who had taken up the revered role at the Jai Shri Ramleela Vishwakarma Nagar. The performance was meant to celebrate the iconic victory of good over evil but ended in sorrow.
In a video widely shared across social media, Kaushik can be seen delivering his lines before appearing visibly distressed. Clutching his chest, he moved behind the stage where he collapsed suddenly. According to police records, Kaushik suffered a heart attack and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Anand Vihar. Unfortunately, despite efforts to revive him, he was declared dead shortly after arrival.
One more sudden cardiac death in Delhi.

This isn’t the first time a performer has collapsed during a live act. In June, an elderly man dressed as a soldier similarly collapsed on stage while performing a patriotic song for children. Believing it to be part of the act, the audience continued applauding. It was only after the performance ended that the severity of the situation was realised. The man, Balwinder Singh Chhabra, was rushed to the hospital but died despite receiving CPR.
In another tragic occurrence earlier this year, a 62-year-old actor portraying Lord Hanuman suffered a heart attack and died during a performance in Haryana's Bhiwani. Likewise, in October 2022, an actor playing Ravan in Ayodhya also collapsed and passed away on stage.
