New Delhi: Senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee has called for a new bill in Parliament to ensure the rapid trial and conviction of rapists. Following the shocking rape and murder of a doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata, Banerjee demanded that sexual assault cases be resolved within seven days, with offenders facing either execution by hanging or encounter by law enforcement.Banerjees call for actionSpeaking at an administrative meeting in Amtala, located in his Diamond Harbour constituency, Banerjee expressed his frustration with the BJPs response to the tragedy. The autopsy revealed that she had been sexually assaulted before being murdered, with injuries to her neck and signs of severe violence. Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the crime.
