In a shocking incident in Bareilly, an eight-month-old baby boy was abducted while sleeping with his family on Saturday night. Despite frantic searches, the family was unable to find any trace of the infant. Following the disappearance, the child’s father, Ravi Kumar, filed a kidnapping complaint at the Bithri Chainpur police station. The police have initiated an investigation to locate the missing child.
Ravi Kumar, a daily wage laborer, resides in Kacholi village, Bithri Chainpur. His modest home is situated away from the main village area and lacks a proper door, with only a curtain serving as a barrier. Due to financial constraints, the family sleeps on bedding laid over straw in the verandah.
On the fateful night, the family of five, including Ravi, his wife Meena, and their three children, were asleep on the same bed. The youngest child, Himanshu, was nestled between his parents. Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, Meena woke up to find Himanshu missing. The family’s cries for help attracted neighbors, and soon a crowd gathered to search for the baby. Despite extensive efforts, the child could not be located.
Initial inquiries revealed no enmity or disputes involving Ravi Kumar, leading villagers to speculate about possible wild animal involvement. However, this theory was ruled out as the child was sleeping between his parents. Others suggested the possibility of abduction for occult rituals, though no evidence supports this claim.
Inspector Abhishek Singh stated that the family’s poverty makes ransom a less likely motive. The police have deployed search teams and assured that the case will be resolved soon.
This incident draws parallels to a 2016 case in Bithri Chainpur, where a seven-year-old girl named Kohinoor was abducted while sleeping with her mother. Despite extensive investigations, the girl was never found, and the case remains unsolved.
