Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal expressed disapproval of his aide Bibhav Kumar's arrest in connection with assault allegations made by his party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. In a video message on Saturday, Kejriwal criticized the central government for what he sees as targeting his party and announced a protest at the BJP headquarters on May 19. Kejriwal did not mention Swati Maliwal in his message.

Here's what he says:

The Delhi CM accused the Prime Minister of engaging in a 'game of imprisonment'. He announced plans to visit the BJP HQ the following day with senior leaders, MLAs, and MPs at 12 PM, stating that whoever the authorities wished to detain could be detained.

Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Kejriwal, was arrested on Saturday over alleged assault accusations involving AAP MP Swati Maliwal. In response, the AAP accused the BJP of "blackmailing" Maliwal, who is facing a corruption case. Kumar was apprehended from the chief minister's residence by a team from the Delhi Police, following Maliwal's statement to a magistrate at the Tis Hazari court regarding the incident.

What are allegations against Bibhav Kumar?

Maliwal claimed that Kumar physically assaulted her on May 13 at the CM's residence, with witnesses, including security personnel and staff, corroborating her account to the police. Maliwal underwent a medical examination at AIIMS, revealing bruises on her leg and cheek, further corroborating her assault claims.

Meanwhile, Kumar expressed willingness to cooperate with the police but also lodged a complaint against AAP's Rajya Sabha MP, alleging unauthorized entry and disturbance. AAP leader Atishi called for fairness from the Delhi Police, urging them to register an FIR based on Kumar's complaint as well.

Swati Maliwal lashes out at AAP

Maliwal criticized her own party for dismissing her allegations against Kumar and accused the AAP of succumbing to pressure and questioning her integrity after initially acknowledging Kumar's misconduct.
