AAP workers stages protest in Noida over alleged corruption in NEET UG 2024 results | Top developments

The core allegation revolves around torn OMR sheets. Many students are reporting that their results are not visible online, and some have received lower marks than expected based on their OMR sheets. Furthermore, the simultaneous emergence of 67 toppers is unprecedented, prompting questions about how eight toppers could emerge from the same center. This raises suspicions of favoritism or coincidence.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers on Tuesday staged a protest here alleging corruption in the recently announced results of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical studies. The protest took place at Sector 19, where the protesters raised slogans and submitted a memorandum addressed to City Magistrate Shalabh Rathi. The National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the NEET, on Saturday said the education ministry has set up a four-member panel to review the grace marks awarded to more than 1,500 candidates. Candidates are struggling to come to terms with the revelation that 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720 in NEET, alongside an abrupt surge in the cutoff. Doubts are being cast even on the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Ranks and scores significantly impacted

Numerous NEET candidates assert that their ranks and scores have been significantly impacted due to the alleged leak of the NEET paper. The resultant inflation in ranks attributed to the leak has prompted candidates to launch a relentless social media campaign, utilizing hashtags such as NEET Scam, Cancel NEET Exam, and Re-release NEET Result.

What NTA has said?

Conversely, NTA asserts that the increase in the number of toppers is attributed to the adherence to NCERT textbooks and the provision of grace marks. Notably, on June 4, 2024, NTA caught everyone by surprise with the unexpected release of the NEET UG 2024 result. Originally slated for June 14, the results were unveiled without prior notice on the evening of June 4, coinciding with the day of Lok Sabha election results. Subsequently, the PDF of the NEET 2024 UG result was uploaded to the website late that night.

Reasons Behind Students' Allegations of Scam

With a staggering 24,060,79 students registering for the NEET UG exam this year, 23,332,97 appeared for the medical entrance exam, out of which 13,16,268 students achieved success. Despite a notably high NEET UG cutoff this year, 67 students clinched the coveted All India Rank 1, boasting a remarkable 99.997129 percentile (NEET 2024 UG Topper). The NEET UG 2024 result has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with a majority of students branding it as a scam. Consequently, there is a growing demand for a re-conduction of the NEET UG 2024 exam.

Student Outrage Over NEET 2024 Result PDF

It's worth noting that NEET candidates have access to the NEET Result 2024 PDF on the NTA website at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. Following the release of the NEET Result 2024 PDF, a screenshot of it started circulating widely on social media platforms. Upon viewing this screenshot, social media users noticed a discrepancy that sparked widespread uproar regarding the integrity of the NEET result. This viral photo has fueled suspicions of a scam surrounding the NEET UG 2024 result, particularly as the issue of NEET UG paper leaks remains a contentious topic.

Concerns Raised Over Exam Center Management

The NEET 2024 topper list photo has been circulating on Facebook, displaying NEET roll numbers, names, marks, and ranks from serial number 62 to 69. Allegations of irregularities have emerged due to the identical NEET Roll Number Series observed among these students, all hailing from the same center or nearby centers. Notably, many of these students lack surnames attached to their names. Of the eight students listed, six achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720 marks, while the remaining two scored 719 and 718 marks respectively. This revelation has led to heightened skepticism among students, although NTA has yet to provide any official response or clarification on the matter.

What SC has said?

During the court proceedings, the Supreme Court announced its decision to issue notice to NTA and merge it with the ongoing petition. Acknowledging the damage to the examination's credibility, the Court emphasized the necessity for answers regarding the irregularities that have tarnished the sanctity of the exam. The case is scheduled for further hearing on July 8.

NTA dismissed allegations

In response to the court's inquiry, NTA, the organizing body of NEET, defended its position and dismissed allegations of paper leak in the NEET Undergraduate Examination 2024 as baseless. NTA affirmed that the exam was conducted in accordance with established standards. While acknowledging an incident where English papers were mistakenly sent instead of Hindi at a center in Rajasthan, NTA asserted that no paper had been leaked. Although the Supreme Court declined to impose a ban on NEET counseling, it refrained from absolving the examination of scrutiny. The magnitude of this NEET CHEAT scandal is evident from the fact that approximately 20 thousand students across various states lodged complaints regarding irregularities in the exam. Despite NTA's assertions, students perceive the examination as tainted, fostering a widespread belief that something is amiss.

Ayushi Patel raised concerns

Ayushi Patel from Lucknow has raised concerns alleging that the OMR sheet provided by NTA was torn. Initially, she was able to view her results on the NTA website, but now they are no longer visible. Ayushi herself has demonstrated this issue and raised questions with NTA. Despite NTA's denial of the allegations regarding Ayushi's OMR sheet, it raises significant doubts about the existence of a possible cheating scandal in NEET.

Additionally, some students have received marks like 718 and 719, which seems improbable given the typical scoring range of 715, 716, or 720 marks.
