New Delhi: Delhi residents woke up to a city overwhelmed by heavy rains on Friday. The intense downpour led to the collapse of a canopy at the busy Terminal 1 of Delhi Airport, resulting in the tragic death of one person. This incident disrupted flight operations, which were suspended until further notice, leaving many passengers stranded. The early morning rain caused severe flooding in various parts of the city. Water entered homes, submerged vehicles, and led to miles-long traffic jams. Key tunnels, including the one at Pragati Maidan, were closed, further exacerbating the traffic situation. BJP's sccusations against AAP

Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government for failing to properly desilt the city's drains. They pointed out that numerous roads were waterlogged even after light rains. According to BJP, only 150 out of 700 drains had been desilted. They also accused the Public Works Department (PWD) of poor performance, despite PWD's claim that 80% of the drainage system had been cleaned. BJP leaders suggested that the drainage cleaning was merely on paper. AAP leader also remarked, "There is a lot of focus on advertisements, but the administration is weak."

AAP's response

In response, AAP leaders blamed the Uttar Pradesh government for the waterlogging issues. A video shared on social media showed a car stuck in water in Noida's Sector 94, with AAP leaders stating that underpasses were flooded due to poor water management. They criticized the administration for failing to release water into the Yamuna River, worsening the situation.
