New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress have forged a significant pact to distribute seats across several states, including Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, and Chandigarh, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sources indicate that the alliance aims to counter the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dominance on the national stage.

Delhi deal close to finalization

In Delhi, where the AAP holds power, negotiations have progressed with the AAP set to contest four seats and the Congress three. Final confirmation is anticipated shortly, with both parties recognizing the strategic importance of alliances in challenging the BJP's supremacy.

AAP-Congress agreement in Gujarat

Prime Minister Modi's home state, Gujarat, will witness the AAP contesting two seats—Bharuch and Bhavnagar—currently held by BJP representatives Mansukhbhai Vasava and Bharti Shiyal. The AAP's strengthened position follows recent successes in local elections, contrasting with the Congress's declining performance in the region.

Chandigarh and Haryana allotments

The Congress is poised to contest the sole Lok Sabha seat in Chandigarh, previously held by the BJP's Kirron Kher. Meanwhile, in Haryana, the AAP is expected to vie for one seat, marking a strategic move against the BJP's stronghold in the region.

Goa dynamics shift

In Goa, the AAP withdraws Venzy Viegas from the South Goa seat, allowing the Congress to nominate Francisco Sardinha. However, the allocation for the North Goa seat, currently held by the BJP, remains uncertain.

No agreement in Punjab

Contrary to the multi-state alliance, Punjab remains unaffected, with the AAP slated to contest all 13 seats. This decision underscores the AAP's growing influence in the region following its dominant performance in the recent Assembly elections.

UP deal marks milestone

Recent negotiations between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh signify a significant milestone for the alliance, securing 17 seats out of 80 in the crucial state. The collaboration marks INDIA's first substantial electoral arrangement, aiming to challenge the BJP's dominance.

INDIA Bloc strengthens

Established last year, the INDIA bloc has encountered challenges but remains steadfast in its pursuit to counter the BJP. Recent victories and strategic alliances indicate a renewed momentum, positioning the alliance as a formidable force in the upcoming elections.

The AAP-Congress coalition, coupled with alliances across various states, underscores a united front against the BJP, reflecting a shift in the political landscape as parties align to challenge the ruling party's dominance.
