India: Following the recent hike of 50 in the prices of domestic gas cylinders by the government, the LPG Distributors Union has threatened to go on strike. The union has warned that if their demands, including an increase in commissions, are not met within the next three months, they will be forced to go on strike.

Demand for Increased Commission

In a statement, the president of the LPG Distributors Association, B.S. Sharma, mentioned that this decision was taken during the national convention of the association held in Bhopal on Saturday. Sharma stated, "We have sent a letter to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, demanding an increase in the commission given to LPG distributors, as the current commission is insufficient and does not align with our operational costs."

The union step ahead to talk to the commission

The union has requested that the commission paid to LPG distributors be increased to at least 150. Additionally, the letter highlighted that oil companies are sending non-domestic cylinders to distributors without any legitimate demand, which is against legal provisions and should be stopped immediately. The distribution of cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme is also facing several issues, according to the union's letter.

Strike Warning

The association has made it clear that if their demands are not met within three months, they will resort to a prolonged strike.

50 Price Hike on Gas Cylinders

Similarly, in Kolkata, the price rose from 829 to 879, in Mumbai from 802.50 to 853.50, and in Chennai from 818.50 to 868.50. Additionally, the prices of gas cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme have also been increased.
