Dandi March : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tribute to the participants of the historic Dandi March on its 95th anniversary. He said the courage, sacrifice and commitment to truth and non-violence of the participants of the Dandi March will continue to inspire generations.
PM Modi paid tribute to the heroes of Dandi March
In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said, 'Today, we pay tribute to all those who participated in the historic Dandi March, a defining chapter in India's freedom struggle. Led by Mahatma Gandhi, this march ignited a nationwide movement for self-reliance and independence. The courage, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to truth and non-violence of all those who participated in the Dandi March will continue to inspire generations.'
Gandhi shook the foundations of British rule with a handful of salt
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and all the freedom fighters. He said, 'Exactly 95 years ago today, Mahatma Gandhi started the historic Dandi March and shook the foundation of British rule with a handful of salt. The nationwide movement of civil disobedience that started with the Salt Satyagraha was an important step towards fulfilling the resolution of 'Purna Swaraj' of the Indian National Congress. The Congress Party is still following the principles of Bapuji. Protecting the rights of the people by doing padyatra has been and will remain the objective of the Congress. On this occasion, we pay tribute to all the freedom fighters for their incomparable contribution, struggle and sacrifice.'
Pralhad Joshi called the Dandi March historic
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi also paid tribute to the Dandi March, calling it historic. Joshi said on Christmas, 'On this Dandi March Day, we honour Mahatma Gandhi's fearless stand against colonial rule. His historic Salt March sparked a movement that strengthened India's fight for independence and self-reliance.'
