Mumbai: A five-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being run over by an SUV in the parking lot of a prominent hotel near Pathardi Phata, Nashik, police said on Friday. The accident was caught on CCTV, showing the horrifying moment when the child ran behind his father’s car and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The boy had accompanied his father, a professional driver, to the hotel on the Mumbai-Agra National Highway after he dropped off passengers. As his father parked the car, the child stepped out and started playing in the parking lot.
According to police, the boy suddenly ran behind his father’s vehicle and was crushed by a black SUV approaching from the opposite direction. Despite his father’s desperate attempts to stop him, the impact was too severe to save the child.
The seriously injured child was rushed to a nearby hospital by his father and hotel security guards but was declared dead on arrival. Indiranagar police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Nashik ACP Shekhar Deshmukh confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the SUV driver under Sections 106, 125A, and 125B of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
This heartbreaking incident comes just days after a 12-year-old boy was run over by a dumper truck in Belapur while riding his bicycle home. The driver, who allegedly failed to notice the child, fled the scene, prompting a police search.
