5.1 magnitude earthquake hits Bay of Bengal, Kolkata feels tremors

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake hit the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The epicenter was situated in the central part of the bay, with no initial reports of damage or any tsunami risk.

The earthquake of a 5.1 magnitude earthquake rocked the Bay of Bengal early Tuesday morning,  transferring mild  temblors to Kolkata and some areas of West Bengal. As per the National Center for Seismology( NCS), the earthquake  passed at 610 AM IST at a depth of 91 kilometers. Although the  temblors saw  residers running for safety for a bit, no immediate report of damage or casualty has been  entered. 
 

Details of the Earthquake verified by SeismologistsThe details of the earthquake were  instantly participated by the NCS on X( formerly Twitter)  attesting its  position and magnitude. The  sanctioned post stated" EQ of M 5.1, On 25/02/2025 061025 IST, Lat 19.52 N, Long 88.55 E, Depth 91 Km, Location Bay of Bengal." 
 
 Social Media in UproarAs the  temblors were felt, the  residers took to social media to  relate their  gests  and express their  enterprises. Hashtags pertaining to the earthquake began trending for a while, with  numerous  druggies agitating the  goods and checking on each other to see that they were okay. 
 
One  similar  stoner  twittered" Earthquake Alert! Google Earthquake Alert  entered around 6.10 am in Kolkata. Reports say centered some 175 km from Odisha. Did anyone feel the  temblors? Awaiting  sanctioned  evidence. Be alert and stay safe!" 
 
 Authorities are covering the situation. Although no reports have surfaced of any major damage, disaster  operation  brigades and original authorities are covering the situation. residers are advised to remain  watchful and cleave to the standard safety protocols replaced by any foreshocks that may  do.
