40 students hurt, several in critical condition after school balcony collapse in Barabanki

Many students were rescued from beneath the debris of the collapsed balcony. The critically injured are receiving treatment for wounds to their face, neck, hands, and legs.

In a tragic incident in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, at least 40 children sustained injuries when a section of the first-floor balcony at Awadh Academy School collapsed. Several of the injured children are reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred as many students gathered on the balcony to proceed to the morning assembly.

According to Barabanki Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar Singh, five students are in critical condition. Following the collapse, the injured children were initially taken to Jahangirabad Primary Health Centre, located approximately 300 meters from the school. After receiving initial treatment, the students were transferred to the district hospital for further care.

Many of the children were rescued from beneath the debris of the collapsed balcony. At the district hospital, they are being treated for injuries primarily affecting their face, neck, hands, and legs.
