A tragic incident struck the village of Khodna Kalan in the Surajpur locality of Greater Noida on Friday evening, resulting in the death of three children and injuries to five others. The under-construction wall collapse occurred around 7:45 PM, according to local authorities.Officials suspect that the walls foundation was weakened by heavy rainfall earlier in the day, leading to the collapse by evening. Hridesh Katheria, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) for Central Noida, confirmed the timing and location of the incident.Eyewitness AccountsThe incident took place at the home of Saghir, a local resident, whose extended familys children were playing near the under-construction wall. Around 7:45 PM, a wall of the house collapsed on the children. The family made efforts to rescue the children while the locals alerted police, Katheria stated.Emergency ResponsePolice teams arrived at the scene by 8 PM and transported the eight children to a nearby hospital. Tragically, three children—Ahad (4), Alfiza (2), and Adil (8)—were declared dead on arrival. The five injured children, identified as Ayesha (16), Hussain (5), Sohna (12), Wasil (11), and Sameer (15), are currently receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.Family BackgroundAll eight children are related and belong to Saghirs family, who work as daily wage labourers. The ADCP mentioned that the childrens bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and further investigation into the incident is ongoing.The local community is in shock and mourning the loss of young lives. Authorities are closely examining the construction site to determine any lapses that may have contributed to the collapse.
