At least 30 passengers suffered severe injuries after two Kerala State Road Transport Corporation buses crashed head-on late Saturday along the Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil highway.

According to the news agency ANI, this tragic accident occurred around 10:30 PM when one bus reportedly overtook another vehicle and rammed into a bus approaching from the opposite direction near Moonnukallimoodu in Neyyattinkara.

Both trapped drivers were critically wounded after fire personnel extricated them from the badly damaged vehicles. Four other passengers are also in serious condition, hospital authorities said.

As per the initial reports, the buses were speeding when the high-impact collision took place, throwing occupants around violently inside and leaving the mangled front sections unusable. Further investigations are underway.
