Viral News: Television actress and Bigg Boss fame Pavitra Punia, known for her bold opinions and powerful performances, has recently shared her views on the increasing crime rates and sexual violence in the country. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Telly Masala, Punia expressed her concerns about the portrayal of nudity on-screen and its possible connection to rising rape cases.

On-screen nudity and rising crime rates

Punia believes that excessive on-screen nudity and intimate scenes are influencing societal behavior negatively. She remarked, "People see actresses performing two smooch scenes and think, why not take it further? Once a girl is seen doing such scenes, no one views her with respect as a daughter or sister. This mindset is leading to an increase in rapists, who are exposed to such portrayals on-screen."

Pavitra Punia's perspective

She further emphasized how the depiction of romance in earlier films was more innocent. "We never saw Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, or Aamir Khan indulging in such scenes in their movies, and even if they did, it was shown with grace. Back then, no one looked at actresses with lustful eyes because the portrayal was respectful," she added.

Punia questioned the need for intimate scenes in cinema, saying, "Will your movie not work without a smooch scene? Stop showcasing such content if you want to bring down the crime rate."

Turning down a web series

The actress revealed that two years ago, she declined a web series offer because it demanded scenes she was uncomfortable with. "The script required the actress to strip down to lingerie in front of a mirror and perform an explicit intimate scene. I refused immediately," she shared.

Pavitra's remarks have sparked conversations about the entertainment industry's role in shaping societal perspectives.
