New Delhi: In a distressing incident reported from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a 13-year-old girl, a student of Class 8, took her own life a day after she was allegedly subjected to a gang rape in a sugarcane field. The incident, which took place on Monday, has shaken the community and led to immediate police action.
According to the FIR filed by the victim's father, the young girl was at the field to dry clothes when she was reportedly attacked by two individuals identified as Ankit and Pankaj. They allegedly dragged her into the sugarcane field where the assault occurred. The ordeal was interrupted only when the girl's sister arrived, alerted by her cries for help.
Following the assault, the girl, overwhelmed by the trauma, committed suicide the next day. Despite being rushed to the hospital, medical intervention could not save her life. The police, upon receiving the complaint, promptly registered an FIR and have since arrested one of the accused. Efforts are underway to apprehend the second perpetrator.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural), Mukesh Chandra Mishra, confirmed the arrest and the ongoing search for the second suspect. The body of the young victim has been sent for a postmortem examination to further understand the circumstances leading to her death. A thorough investigation has been initiated to ensure justice is served.
