New Delhi: A Muslim youth has been arrested for the brutal rape of an 12-year-old girl in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The accused, Shakir Khan, forcefully entered the victims home and assaulted her. After raping her, he further violated her by committing sodomy.How did things unfoldThe incident came to light after the victims family filed a complaint. The girls grandmother, who resides in Subhash Nagar, reported that she supports her family by working in households while her son is employed as a laborer. The victims mother had remarried, leaving the 12-year-old to live with her grandmother. On the day of the incident, the grandmother was at work, leaving the girl alone at home. Around 3:30 PM, Shakir Khan, a neighbor, entered their house and, after threatening the girl, raped her.Severe trauma and police actionThe grandmother informed the police that her granddaughter had become unusually silent due to Shakirs threats. The physical and emotional trauma she suffered was severe. After much persuasion, the girl revealed the horrific details of Shakirs actions. The family then reported the incident to the Subhash Nagar police station on Wednesday night. The police swiftly registered a report and began the medical examination and statement recording process.Criminal background of the accusedFurther investigations revealed that Shakir Khan is a habitual offender with a history of criminal activities. He has four prior cases registered under the Arms Act in Kotwali and Subhash Nagar, along with SC-ST and assault charges in Subhash Nagar.Legal proceedings and arrestInspector Satish Rai of Subhash Nagar confirmed that a report has been filed against Shakir Khan under various sections, including rape, POCSO, and criminal intimidation. The victim is currently undergoing a medical examination, and her statements are being recorded to support the legal proceedings. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail.
