11th grade student stabs teacher after being scolded, here's what happened next

NEW DELHI: In a tragic incident in Assam's Sivasagar district, a Class 11 student allegedly stabbed his chemistry teacher, Rajesh Baruah Bejawada (55), to death in the classroom. The incident occurred after the 16-year-old student was scolded for poor academic performance. The student has been detained and is currently being questioned.

What exactly happened? 

Rajesh Baruah Bejawada, who also held managerial responsibilities at the privately-owned school, had reprimanded the student for his performance in chemistry and had asked him to bring his parents for a meeting. Later that day, the student returned to class in casual clothes. When the teacher asked him to leave, the student suddenly attacked and repeatedly stabbed him with a knife.

A student who witnessed the incident reported that the accused, dressed in casuals, was asked to leave by the teacher. When the student did not comply, he became angry, pulled out a knife, and attacked Mr. Bejawada, striking him on the head and stabbing him multiple times. The witness described the shock and horror of seeing their teacher bleeding heavily on the floor.

Response from the police

The police reached the coaching center after receiving reports of a stabbing incident. According to the police officer who reached the institution, preliminary information indicates that a student stabbed his teacher. The classroom has a significant amount of blood, and the knife was also found at the scene of the crime. He further mentioned that the teacher was transported to the hospital in critical condition but was declared dead upon arrival.

The officer noted that the incident occurred during the last period of the day when most other teachers had already left. We have detained the student. Why did such an incident happen is still not known to anyone. We are in the process of collecting CCTV footage, the police officer stated.
