10 complaints in 2 FIRs against Brij Bhushan claims he asked for sexual favours

According to the information, Delhi police has shared the 2 FIRs registered against the chief of Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Along with this, 10 other complaints have also been shared by the department. Both the FIRs cite IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking) and 34 (common intention) that carry a jail term for one to three years.

As per Delhi police these 10 complaints were registered against him on April 21, while the two FIRs got registered on April 28.

In these complaints, wrestlers have mentioned that the WFI chief made attempts to touch them inappropriately, molestation by touching them on the chest, moving hands on their belly, among others.

Reportedly, the FIRs were lodged under Sections 354, 354(a), 354(d) and 34, which account for a three-year jail term. Six Olympians make charges in the first FIR, while the father of a youngster makes allegations in the second FIR. The incidents stated purportedly occurred between 2012 and 2022 both in India and abroad.

Here is the brief of the allegations that are mentioned in the FIR:

• While having dinner at the restaurant’s hotel, the complainant claimed the WFI coach sexually grabbed her. She added that Singh had touched her on the palm, knees, and shoulders. She claimed that he also groped her on the chest and stomach under the pretence of observing her breathing patterns.
• Another accusation against the WFI chief said he touched the complainant’s chest while yanking a wrestler’s T-shirt. She further said that the WFI leader yanked her firmly in his direction.
• The WFI president is accused of hugging a wrestler and bribing her.
• On the premise of observing another complainant’s breathing pattern, the WFI chief was accused of caressing the complainant’s stomach improperly.
• Another complaint said that while she was in queue, the WFI chief inappropriately grabbed her. She claimed that when she tried to leave, Singh grabbed her by the shoulder.
• However, Singh denied placing his hand on her shoulder, despite the claim made by another wrestler.
