Amid ongoing controversy over sudden deaths due to cardiac arrest, two families have come forward and alleged their daughters died due to complications from the Covishield vaccine. According to the sources, the families have planned to sue the company. Covishield is the Indian version of the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII).The Oxford-AstraZeneca sold the vaccine with the name of Covishield and Vaxzevria.The statement from the families has come days after AstraZeneca, which sold vaccine in India admitted that the vaccine has some side effects, which include blood clots. The families are hoping that they get justice and are suing SII for compensation.Another case involves a medical student named Snehal Lunawat who died in March 2021. Her father claims she was pressured to get vaccinated and experienced severe side effects before her death.Rithaika Sri Omtri was just 18 and was pursuing architecture in 2021 when Covid hit. According to the sources, soon after she took her first dose of the vaccine, she developed a high fever within seven days and she could not walk, after which she was diagnosed with brain clots and a hemorrhage. Within 2-week, she was declared dead. Till then, Rithaikas parents did not know the exact cause of her death. Later they filed 2 RTIs and got clarification from the Union health ministry that Rithaika had suffered thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome and died due to a vaccine product-related reaction.Another similar case, came to light when in July 2021, Venugopal Govindans daughter Karunya also died a month after her vaccination. However, the national committee concluded that there was insufficient evidence to conclude that she died due to the vaccine.Since then, severe families have filed complaints that covid vaccine has devastating effects.
