The Rajya Sabha witnessed a chaotic session on Friday as opposition members protested after Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected their demands to suspend scheduled business and discuss the recent security breach in Parliament.

The tension escalated further when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha attempted to raise a point of order using a hand gesture. Dhankhar objected to the gesture and said, "Mr Chadha, you don't have to do like this (hand gesture) to raise a point of order, use your mouth, don't do it."

He further criticized the AAP MP and remineded his previous suspension from the House and advising him to "learn many things" and "sit quietly on your seat." These strong words further fueled the opposition's anger, leading to a heated exchange with the Chairman.

What are the demands of opposition leader?

Interestingly, just an hour before facing Dhankhar's remark, Chadha had voiced his support for the opposition's demand for a discussion. He emphasized the seriousness of the security lapse, stating, "Are opposition MPs demanding something illegitimate? Are they saying something wrong? They are just saying that a discussion should be done on the security breach of the most secured building in the country. I think the government should accept the demand. It's not a matter of some particular party or party politics but of the most secure building, the Indian Parliament. If the Parliament is not safe, is the country safe?”

The Chairman had to adjourn the proceedings till 2 PM as the opposition's demands were not met.
