IIT-BHU case: Trinamool Congress member Mahua Moitra has taken a strong stand against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, questioning the delay in taking bulldozer action against BJP leaders allegedly involved in the gang-rape of a IIT-BHU student.

Moitra's sharp comments come in the wake of the recent arrests and accusations against local BJP functionaries in the heinous crime.

Criticising Yogi Adityanath

In a tweet posted on X, the expelled TMC MP wrote, "Thok dijiye, Sir. Is Baar Bulldozer Chalaane Mein Itni Der Kyon?" (Take action, Sir. Why the delay in running the bulldozer this time?), along with sharing pictures of the accused individuals with Yogi Adityanath.

BJP Functionaries Implicated

The arrests were made two months after a female student reported a gang-rape incident inside the IIT-BHU campus in Uttar Pradesh. The opposition parties have alleged that the accused individuals are affiliated with the BJP, claiming to be members of the party's IT cell on their Facebook pages.

IIT-BHU Rape Case Overview

The incident occurred on November 1, where a female student at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Banaras Hindu University (BHU) reported a case of sexual assault. According to the complainant, three men on a motorcycle forcibly took her to a secluded spot near the Karman Baba temple. They allegedly separated her from her friend, gagged her, and stripped her, recording a video and taking photos.

Mahua Moitra's direct and assertive questioning of Yogi Adityanath underscores the demand for swift and stringent action against those involved in the IIT-BHU rape case, bringing the issue into the political spotlight.
