New Delhi: Karnataka police have booked JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna for allegedly sexually assaulting a 27-year-old youth worker of the party. This follows a complaint filed by the victim detailing the incident, which allegedly occurred at a farmhouse in Holenarasipura taluk, Hassan district, on June 16th.Whats in the complainant The complainant accused Suraj Revanna of stripping and sexually assaulting him, accompanied by threats to harm his family. The victim also claimed that Suraj Revanna promised job opportunities and political growth, following which his associate, Shivakumar, allegedly attempted to settle the matter through extortion, offering the victim ₹2 crore to keep quiet.Police action in this matter In response to Shivakumars complaint of extortion, police have filed additional charges against the victim under IPC Sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (conspiracy).Both Suraj Revanna and Shivakumar have been named as accused in the sexual assault case, which has been registered under IPC Sections 377 (carnal intercourse against the order of nature), 342 (wrongful confinement), 506 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and 34 (common intention).Prajwal Revannas brother accused of sexual assault The case has garnered significant attention given Suraj Revannas familial ties — he is the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna, a former JD(S) MP who is currently facing multiple sexual assault charges and was recently sent to judicial custody.Who is Suraj and Prajwal Revanna Suraj and Prajwal Revanna are sons of JD(S) MLA H D Revanna and Bhavani Revanna, the latter also embroiled in legal issues related to Prajwals cases. Their grandfather is former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and their uncle is Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy.The victim had previously written a complaint to the states Home Minister and Director General of Police before the FIR was filed.
