Attack on ED officials: In a scathing criticism of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed concern over the recent attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team, warning of potential fatalities and highlighting the apparent absence of law and order in West Bengal.
Responding to Chowdhury's comments, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh dismissed the Congress leader as an "agent of BJP," intensifying the political tension surrounding the attack on the ED team.
The ED team faced violent opposition during a raid related to an alleged ration scam in Sandeshkhali village. Supporters of TMC leaders targeted the officials, resulting in injuries and damage to official vehicles.
BJP leaders, including MP Jagannath Sarkar and West Bengal BJP Chief Sukanta Majumdar, condemned the attack, citing it as a symptom of failing democracy in the state. Sarkar advocated declaring an emergency in West Bengal to restore law and order.
TMC MP Santanu Sen and leader Kunal Ghosh asserted that the attack was a reaction to provocation by central agencies. They accused the agencies of working against TMC leaders at the BJP's behest, fueling frustration among the people.
The attack on the ED team in West Bengal has ignited political tensions, with Congress and TMC engaging in a war of words. The incident has prompted calls for an emergency by the BJP, while TMC leaders allege provocation by central agencies. As the situation unfolds, concerns over law and order in the state continue to escalate.
