'Take care of my parents,' says Kejriwal before returning to Tihar jail

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Friday, that he will surrender on June 2. Despite the potential hardships he might face in jail, Kejriwal remains resolute, stating he will not bow down. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was granted a 21-day interim bail by the Supreme Court for election campaigning, which ends on June 1.

In a heartfelt video message, Kejriwal expressed his deepest concerns about his family's well-being during his imprisonment. He shared his worries about his elderly and ill parents, urging supporters to pray for them and take care of his family in his absence. He emphasized the importance of prayers and the support of his family and followers.

Kejriwal acknowledged the power of prayers, attributing his strength and survival to the prayers and blessings of the people. He praised his wife, Sunita, for her unwavering support through tough times and assured his followers that the family remains united in the face of adversity. He also urged people not to mourn if anything were to happen to him, reaffirming his commitment to his cause.

Kejriwal's health challenges 

Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal revealed that his health had significantly deteriorated during his 50-day imprisonment. He mentioned substantial weight loss and the denial of diabetes medication. Despite these health challenges, he remains committed to working for the welfare of Delhi's citizens.

Interim bail

Kejriwal walked out of jail on May 10 on a 21-day interim bail and has been actively leading his party's campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. However, he is required to surrender and return to Tihar Jail on June 2. Kejriwal was initially arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to the excise policy 'scam.'

The Enforcement Directorate accuses Kejriwal of being the 'kingpin and key conspirator' in the Delhi excise policy scam. The agency claims he was in direct contact with one of the key accused.
