The public dispute over participation in Mumbai's language policy grew after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray requested security accusations against RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi because of his claim Marathi lack is not mandatory for Mumbai living. During his media appearance outside Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha in Mumbai Uddhav Thackeray revealed the undercover plan of BJP and RSS exists within Joshi's words. He requested legal authorities to file charges of sedition against the RSS leader. The statements given by the Chief Minister about Kortkar in Legislative Council demand that the Chief Minister also proclaim Bhaiyyaji Joshi is a petty man. Bhaiyyaji Joshi requires public prosecution under sedition laws pertaining to his recent statements he made," he said.
According to MLA Aaditya Thackeray previous statement today the official language of Maharashtra and Mumbai is exclusively Marathi. Our state welcomes people who settle down from different areas of the country to chase their dreams. People who join contribute to the growth and the borders remain open to all members of society. This region and its capital city Mumbai along with whole of Maharashtra possess Marathi as their official spoken language. Marathi stands as the official language representing Maharashtra as Tamil represents Tamil Nadu and Kannada represents Karnataka.
Devendra Fadnavis either as Maharashtra Chief Minister has declared in the state Assembly that Marathi functions as the official language for Mumbai along with Maharashtra and their government. Every citizen in Maharashtra has a moral duty to learn the state's primary language despite the culture and identity which Marathi represents the state. Our cultural heritage includes the Marathi language which will remain preserved along with respect in Maharashtra under the leadership of the Maharashtra CM.
The dispute about Marathi language started after RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi delivered his statement in Ghatkopar Mumbai. RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi delivered a speech where he stated that Mumbai lacked one official language. Mumbai consists of linguistic neighborhoods where every section speaks different languages. A person visiting Ghatkopar would understand Gujarati as the main spoken language. The residents of Mumbai do not have to study Marathi because their home city does not require knowledge of this particular language.
