As his bail period in the Delhi liquor policy scam case expired, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal prepared to surrender. Before heading to Tihar Jail, Kejriwal visited Rajghat, where he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his Samadhi. He also visited the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place, seeking blessings.
In an emotional speech at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office, Kejriwal expressed deep concern for his elderly and ailing parents, urging people to take care of them in his absence. He assured the citizens of Delhi that all government services and initiatives would continue without interruption. "Take care of yourself," he said, "If you are happy, your Kejriwal will also be happy."
Kejriwal remained defiant in the face of his impending surrender. Speaking in a virtual press conference, he stated, "I will leave my house around 3 pm on Sunday to surrender. Maybe this time they will torture me more, but I will not bow down." He emphasized that his commitment to the people of Delhi would remain steadfast. "I will not be among you, of course, but you don't worry, all your work will continue... and after returning I will also start giving Rs 1000 every month to every mother and sister."

Kejriwal expressed his gratitude to the Supreme Court for granting him bail for 21 days to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. "I want to thank the Supreme Court for this. Today I am going to Tihar Jail again," he said. He highlighted his tireless efforts during these 21 days, campaigning not only for AAP but also supporting various other parties across states like Mumbai, Haryana, UP, and Jharkhand. "AAP is not important, the country is important for us," he asserted.
In his speech, Kejriwal also criticized the recent exit polls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He dismissed them as fake and misleading. "The exit polls for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections came out yesterday. Write it down, all these exit polls are fake," he claimed. He pointed out discrepancies, such as one exit poll giving BJP 33 seats in Rajasthan, a state with only 25 seats. Kejriwal suggested that these fake polls were an attempt to manipulate public perception and the election process itself.
Kejriwal addressed the people of Delhi, explaining that his return to jail was not due to any wrongdoing on his part, but because he had dared to challenge the current government. "I am going to jail again, not because I have committed any scam, but because I have raised my voice against dictatorship; PM Modi has admitted in front of the country that he has no evidence against me."
