Maharashtra: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed rumors about the successor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying Modi will be PM for many years to come. Fadnavis, addressing a press conference in Nagpur, said, "In 2029, we will see Modi as the prime minister again." Senior RSS leader Suresh 'Bhaiyyaji' Joshi too expressed similar views, saying he does not know of any such discussion about Modi's replacement.
Fadnavis further stated that succession talk while the leader is alive is not appropriate in Indian culture. "In our culture, when the father is alive, it's not proper to discuss succession. That's Mughal culture," he stated.
Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut had said Modi visited the RSS headquarters to give out a message regarding his retirement. But Fadnavis and Joshi refuted these claims, saying that there is no basis to these claims.
Prime Minister Modi had gone to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Sunday, where he had called the Sangh the "banyan tree" of India's eternal culture. It was his first time at the RSS headquarters since becoming Prime Minister 11 years ago.
