Acharya Pramod Krishnam has been expelled by Congress for "indiscipline and making repeated statements against the party."
Krishnam, who contested on a Congress ticket and lost the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow, recently commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the dedication of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and criticized the Congress for its leadership's decision to miss the occasion.

While addressing the media persons, on being asked if he will join BJP, expelled Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam says, "I don't know where I will go. I have faith in God, I will go wherever God will take me. I am with Narendra Modi ji and Modi ji is with the country..."

Who is Acharya Pramod Krishnam?

Acharya Pramod Krishnam is a Hindu spiritual leader, social activist, and politician from India. He is the founder and Peethadhishwar of the Shri Kalki Foundation and the Kalki Dham, a spiritual organization based in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. He is also a former member of the Indian National Congress (INC).

Acharya Krishnam has been accused of being a Hindu nationalist and has also been criticized for his lavish lifestyle.

Despite the controversies, Krishnam remains a popular figure among some sections of the Hindu community. He is known for his fiery speeches and his strong views on social and political issues. He is also a prolific writer and has authored several books on Hindu spirituality.

Why Acharya Krishnam is expelled by Congress?

Acharya Pramod Krishnam was expelled by the Congress party on Saturday. The official reasons given by the party were ‘complaints of indiscipline and repeated public statements against the party.’

Specific instances of ‘indiscipline’

Criticizing the Congress leadership for skipping the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya: This was a major point of contention as the party viewed it as an ‘RSS/BJP event’ rather than a purely religious one. Krishnam called this decision ‘unfortunate’ and publicly supported attending the ceremony.

Inviting Prime Minister Modi to the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Kalki Dham in Uttar Pradesh: This signaled potential support for the opposing party leader.

Publicly criticizing other decisions of the party leadership: This created internal friction and undermined the party's public image.

Meanwhile, Acharya Krishnam reacted by questioning the definition of ‘anti-party activities’ and stated his continued support for Lord Ram and the nation.
