'Gang war' between prisoners in Tihar Jail leaves two injured, investigation underway

A gang war has erupted between the prisoners at Tihar Jail in Delhi, late Friday night. According to the sources, the violent clash broke out among inmates, resulting in two prisoners being injured. The victims, identified as Lovely and Lavish, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Initial investigations suggest that the attack was driven by personal vendettas.

According to the reports, the incident has happened at jail numbers 8 and 9 and has escalated a police investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the confrontation stemmed from ongoing bitterness. The jail administration is currently reviewing CCTV footage to understand the full scope of the incident.

What exactly happened?

According to ANI, the prisoner who was attacked is housed in Tihar Jail No. 9 and was targeted by fellow inmates, including Lokesh, Abhishek, and Himanshu. Lokesh, seeking revenge for the murder of his brother, orchestrated the attack with the help of Abhishek and Himanshu. Lovely and Lavish were assaulted with a knife in the phone room while they were conversing.

Taking swift action in the case, the officials shifted one of the prisoners to Deendayal Hospital for treatment, which later got discharged. The police have registered a case of attempted murder at Harinagar Police Station based on the injured prisoners' complaint. The jail administration is conducting a thorough investigation to uncover more details.
