Amid mounting concerns about the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical college admissions, the Supreme Court today issued a stern rebuke to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which oversees the exam. "If there's even 0.001% negligence, it should be dealt with," the Supreme Court emphasised.

Next Hearing Scheduled

The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 8. Last week, the NTA informed the Supreme Court that the grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates in the NEET-UG exam would be withdrawn. These candidates have been given the option to retake the exam on June 23, with results to be announced by June 30.

"If any of these candidates choose not to retake the test, their original scores, excluding the grace marks, will be reinstated," the court was informed.

The NEET-UG exam, taken by 24 lakh students on May 5, had its results declared on June 4. However, allegations of an exam paper leak and other irregularities quickly surfaced. Notably, 67 students achieved a perfect score of 720/720, raising suspicions.
