Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: In defiance of obstacles and the denial of permission by the incumbent CM, N Biren Singh, the Congress party emphatically declared that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will commence from Manipur on January 14.
Party General Secretary, KC Venugopal, asserted, "Maybe they are scared of this yatra," in response to the hurdles faced.
During a press conference, Venugopal and General Secretary in charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, revealed that the BJP government in Manipur denied permission to initiate the Yatra from the Palace Ground in Imphal. Despite assurances that the Nyay Yatra is non-political, the state government declined permission while organising its own events.
Venugopal expressed that the party is exploring alternative venues, with leaders like former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and PCC President K Meghachandra Singh in talks with the Manipur Chief Minister. The CM has verbally agreed to one of the alternate venues, as disclosed by Venugopal.
The Congress leaders released a booklet outlining the purpose and motto of the Yatra. Simultaneously, they launched a website www.bharatjodonyayatra.com and a registration phone number (9891802024) for individuals interested in participating in the Nyay Yatra. The party will also register 'Nyay Yodhas,' participants actively involved in and outside the Yatra.
Venugopal reported witnessing unparalleled enthusiasm and energy during his recent visits to Manipur, Nagaland, and Assam. He expressed confidence in the Yatra's success, drawing parallels to the earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Addressing questions, Venugopal clarified that the Congress had invited all 'INDIA' leaders to join the Yatra. While reiterating its non-political nature, he acknowledged the party's simultaneous preparation for the 2024 General Elections. A meeting of all parliamentary constituency coordinators is scheduled for January 12.
Stay tuned for updates on the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as the Congress pushes forward despite challenges.
