Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Amidst the ongoing discussions in Delhi regarding the allocation of Lok Sabha seats between the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Delhi's Minister Atishi has stirred controversy with startling allegations. Atishi has claimed that leaders of the AAP have been warned to sever ties with the India alliance, or else Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would face imminent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Atishi's Bold Assertion
Addressing the media, Atishi revealed, "Negotiations regarding seat sharing within the India alliance are nearing finalization. A directive has been conveyed to AAP leaders, indicating that failure to dissolve the alliance with Congress will result in Arvind Kejriwal receiving ED and CBI notices, followed by arrest within 3-4 days. I want to convey to the BJP that democracy permits alliances, and intimidation tactics will not deter us."
Threats Amid Alliance Announcement
Atishi voiced concern over the timing of the alleged threats, coinciding with the imminent announcement of the alliance. She alleged that workers had been mobilized to relay the message that Kejriwal's arrest was imminent if the AAP did not sever ties with Congress. Atishi emphasized that while evidence may not be readily available, the threats were a cause for alarm in a democratic setup.
Demand for Transparency
When pressed for evidence to substantiate her claims, Atishi highlighted the impracticality of recording every interaction. As public representatives, she explained, they engage with numerous individuals on a daily basis, making it unfeasible to document every conversation. Nonetheless, Atishi reiterated the seriousness of the allegations and called for transparency in the political process.
Amidst these allegations, the political climate in Delhi remains charged, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments surrounding the impending alliance announcement.
