Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized Congress icon and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for implementing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, labeling it as a blunder during an election rally in Rajasthan's Jodhpur on Monday. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for abolishing the contentious law and hoisting the Indian flag in Kashmir.

Shah remarked, "PM Modi has fulfilled all the promises that we made since the foundation of the BJP. Former PM Jawaharlal Nehru committed a blunder by implementing Article 370 in Kashmir. PM Modi put an end to Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and raised the Indian flag in Kashmir."

Additionally, Shah praised PM Modi for laying the foundation stone of Ayodhya's Ram Temple and criticized the Congress for overlooking the Ram Temple issue for decades. He stated, "For 70 years, the Congress party has diverted from the issue of the Ram Temple at 'Ram Janmabhoomi,' but PM Modi has not only laid the foundation stone but also performed the 'Pran Pratistha' on January 22."

Shah's remarks about Nehru coincided with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's accusation that Nehru considered the Katchatheevu island a "nuisance." Jaishankar quoted Nehru's observation from May 1961, where he expressed a lack of importance for the island and a willingness to relinquish India's claim to it.
