Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: On the solemn occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 76th martyrdom anniversary, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a veiled swipe at the BJP, urging citizens not to let the 'flame of truth' extinguish in the face of 'hatred.' As his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' entered Bihar, Rahul used the day to highlight the continued relevance of Gandhi's principles.

Rahul's Subtle Critique

In a post on X, Rahul stated, "On this day, the ideology of hatred and violence took away our beloved Bapu from the country. And today, that same mindset seeks to take away his principles and ideals from us as well." He emphasized the need not to let the flame of truth wane amidst the storm of hatred.

'Bharat Jodo Yatra' Progress

Rahul's yatra, symbolic of connecting India, recently transitioned from West Bengal to Bihar. The arrival in Bihar is notable, happening shortly after Nitish Kumar's return to the BJP-led NDA alliance, leaving the 'Mahagathbandhan' alliance, of which Congress was a part.

Commemorative Prayer Meeting

In Araria, Bihar, where the yatra resumed its march, a prayer meeting marked the 76th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination. The event aimed to pay sincere tribute to Gandhi by upholding his principles.

Jairam Ramesh's Pledge

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also commemorated the day, expressing determination to fight against the ideology that led to Gandhi's assassination. Ramesh underscored the importance of preventing those glorifying Godse from defining the 'Idea of India.'

Congress' Political Stance

Earlier, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge warned of potential threats to India's electoral and parliamentary democracy if the BJP secured a third consecutive term. Rahul Gandhi and Kharge were scheduled to address a public meeting in Purnia during the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra.

Yatra's Route and Conclusion

The yatra, covering over 6,700 km across 110 districts and 100 Lok Sabha constituencies, is a 66-day endeavor. Initiated in Thoubal, Manipur, on January 14, it will conclude in Mumbai on March 20. The hybrid march seeks to engage with citizens across the country.

Rahul's nuanced critique and the yatra's progression align with Congress' efforts to assert its political stance while commemorating the values of Mahatma Gandhi.
